[Overview]
The Oka Sho, modeled after England's 1000 Guineas, began in 1939 at Nakayama Racecourse and serves as the first leg of the Triple Tiara. The name was changed to its current one in 1947, and since 1950, it has been held at the Hanshin Racecourse.
Normal G1 races have entries submitted two weeks in advance, but for classic races such as the Oka Sho, horses must be registered for the classics in advance. In 'Umamusume Cinderella Gray,' Oguri Cap was unable to participate in classic races, including the Satsuki Sho, because he did not do this. However, thanks to Oguri Cap's success, the system was revised, and since 1992, it has been possible to register for a race two weeks in advance by paying an additional registration fee.
* classic races : Oka sho, Oaks, Satuski sho, Derby, Kikuka sho
In 1984, the grading system for major races was introduced and it became a G1 race, but even before that, it had been held as one of the "Seven Major Races" or "Eight Major Races," regarded as a prestigious race among the major races.
* Seven Major Races : Oka sho, Oaks, Satuski sho, Derby, Kikuka sho, Tenno sho (Spring & Autumn) + Arima Kinen (Eight Major Races)
The 'Oka' in the Oka Sho refers to cherry blossoms. The best viewing time may have passed, but who will be the maiden to show the cherry blossom blizzard?
